Sublimation printing is a versatile and high-quality printing method that involves transferring dye onto materials such as fabric, metal, and ceramics using heat. Choosing the right sublimation printer is crucial for achieving vibrant, durable prints and maximizing efficiency. Two leading models in the market are the Epson F570 PRO and the Sawgrass SG1000. The Epson F570 PRO is renowned for its precision and large format capabilities, making it ideal for professional use, while the Sawgrass SG1000 is celebrated for its user-friendly design and high-definition output, perfect for both small businesses and hobbyists. By selecting the right printer, users can ensure exceptional results and long-term reliability in their sublimation projects.
Using a sublimation printer, such as the Epson F570 PRO or the Sawgrass SG1000, an image is printed on special sublimation paper using sublimation ink.
The sublimation paper has a "correct side" that is bright white. If the backside is not marked by a logo, bend the paper over itself and compare the coloring. It is also important to mirror the image to ensure it is transferred onto your item correctly.
The object you're printing on should have a sublimation coating or be made of polyester or a polyester blend. For clothing, sublimation works best on light-colored or white fabrics because the dye doesn't show up well on darker backgrounds.
Use heat-resistant tape to tape down your design. Be sure to secure the image well as any shift during the press can cause "ghosting".
Apply heat according to the recommended settings for the item you are pressing onto. Often firm pressure, high heat and a long press time give the best results.
Peel back the paper to reveal your transferred image. Sublimation is a permanent process as it embeds the ink into the surface. Quality of ink and equipment used for printing can effect how the vibrancy lasts.
