To create your custom sublimation design, start by measuring and printing your design using a sublimation printer like the Epson F570, Sawgrass SG500, or SG1000. Make sure you use sublimation ink that matches your printer and high-quality sublimation paper, such as Swing Design’s exclusive ProSub Sublimation Paper.
Next, use heat-resistant tape to secure your printed design to your sublimation blank—like the ProSub 20oz Skinny Tumbler or the Orca 11oz Mug. Ensure all edges are taped securely. For a detailed guide on the taping process, CLICK HERE *Silhouette School Blog*
After taping, slide your tumbler or mug into a shrink wrap sleeve. Opt for a sleeve that fits closely but isn’t too tight. Trim any excess from the top and bottom, leaving about 1 inch of extra material.
Using a heat gun, apply heat from approximately 6 inches away, sweeping slowly to ensure even heating. As the shrink wrap melts and tightens, continue until the wrap is smooth around your tumbler or mug. Avoid overheating to prevent melting through the wrap.
Preheat your ProSub Sublimation Oven according to the recommended temperature for your sublimation blank. Once the oven reaches the correct temperature, place your tumbler or mug inside, making sure they don’t touch. Start the timer and, if laying the item down, rotate it halfway through.
When the timer alerts you, carefully remove the tumbler or mug from the ProSub Sublimation Oven using heat-resistant gloves and the provided hook. Allow it to cool before carefully removing both the shrink wrap and sublimation paper.
