The xTool X1 gives you a single expandable platform that starts with a 55W CO2 laser for clean cuts in wood, acrylic, leather, and other non-metals, then lets you add high-speed galvo engraving and specialized sources as your shop grows. Hybrid Motion combines gantry reach with galvo scanning so larger jobs and fine detail can share the same workflow instead of forcing you between two machines.
The X1 is built so you can match the source to the job. The 20W Diode Galvo Module is required before you can add UV, Fiber, or MOPA.
| Configuration | Best For | Practical Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone CO2 (55W) | Cutting and engraving wood, acrylic, leather, paper, and similar non-metals | Solid starting point when most of your work is cutting. No high-speed galvo engraving or further laser expansion until you add the diode module. |
| CO2 + 20W Diode | Cutting plus fast, detailed engraving on wood, leather, dark acrylic, and cardstock | Adds 6,000 mm/s galvo speed and the shared path needed for any later UV, Fiber, or MOPA source. |
| CO2 + 20W Diode + 5W UV | Glass and crystal (surface and 3D inner engraving), heat-sensitive plastics, fine detail | Only source that supports inner glass engraving (approx. 600 × 300 mm in the top 50 mm at RI 1.54). Low-heat process keeps edges clean on sensitive materials. |
| CO2 + 20W Diode + 30W Fiber | Metal marking, nameplates, shallow engraving, and contrast marks on stainless, aluminum, and coated metals | Good for durable serial numbers, logos, and industrial marking. Limited on deep engraving or cutting compared with the MOPA. |
| CO2 + 20W Diode + 60W MOPA | Color engraving on stainless, metal embossing, deeper detail, and more versatile metal results | Adjustable pulse width gives better control for color oxides and relief work than a standard fiber source. |
| Higher combinations (Diode + Fiber + UV, Diode + UV + MOPA, Diode + Fiber + MOPA, or all three) | Shops that need multiple specialized processes available | Sources are modular; only one external source connects at a time. Having the modules on hand lets you switch capabilities without buying another machine. |
BONUS (Configuration-Specific):
Swing Design is xTool's largest reseller and an authorized dealer. You get lifetime support from our US-based team plus personal and business financing so you can add the machine (and later sources) on a schedule that fits your shop. If you are deciding between the standalone CO2 and the CO2 + Diode configuration, our pick for most shops that expect to grow is the version that includes the 20W Diode Galvo Module—it unlocks both the speed and the expansion path without requiring a second machine later.
xTool X1 · All-in-One Laser Platform
The xTool X1 pairs a 55W CO₂ cutter with a 20W Diode Galvo engraver, then adds UV, MOPA, or Fiber as your product line grows. That gives you wood, acrylic, glass, crystal, and metal from one enclosure and one workflow.
One Machine, Five Lasers
Most laser shops end up with a cutter for wood and acrylic, a galvo for fast engraving, and another machine for metal or glass. The xTool X1 puts all of that into one enclosure, so you can quote more jobs, sell more SKUs, and keep one machine busy all day.
Choose Your X1
Every X1 has the 55W CO₂ laser. The deciding piece is the 20W Diode Galvo Module: it brings high-speed engraving and opens the door to UV, MOPA, and Fiber.

The full X1 experience. You get thick CO₂ cutting plus galvo engraving at up to 6,000 mm/s, Hybrid Motion™ across the whole bed, and a Laser Swap™ port ready for a UV, MOPA, or Fiber source later. Choose this one if engraving speed matters or if glass and metal are anywhere on your roadmap.

A standalone 55W CO₂ machine for shops that mostly cut. You still get the large bed, triple-camera setup, and 18 mm wood and 20 mm acrylic cutting capacity, with everyday CO₂ engraving at up to 600 mm/s. This configuration doesn't take the galvo laser sources, so it stays a CO₂ cutter.
On the CO₂ + Diode Galvo configuration, one external laser source connects at a time through Laser Swap™. Each one runs through the same galvo head as the diode.

Built for glass and crystal. It's the only X1 source that does inner (3D) engraving, and its fine spot handles detailed work on almost any material.

The most capable metal option. Color engraving on stainless, deep 3D embossing, thin-metal cutting, and the fastest metal processing on the platform.

Everyday metal work done fast. Crisp, high-contrast black marking and 3D embossing for names, logos, serial numbers, tags, and tools.
How It Works
A typical laser setup takes about eight clicks and adjustments before the first burn: platform height, panoramic shot, close-up shot, focus, material settings, and so on. The X1's Automated Creation System™ (ACS™) cuts that to place, design, and start.
Set the blank on the bed, and ACS™ handles the rest of the setup on its own:
Drop your artwork onto the live camera view in xTool Studio, or batch-place it across every matching blank on the bed.
Press start. The galvo engraves and the CO₂ cuts in one job, with no repositioning between lasers.
Hybrid Motion™ · CO₂ + Diode Galvo
A typical galvo laser is fast but only covers a small square. A gantry laser covers the full bed but moves much more slowly. The X1's Hybrid Motion™ is a four-axis system that mounts the galvo head on a large-format gantry and runs them as one. The gantry handles the long moves, and the galvo mirrors scan detail at up to 6,000 mm/s along the way.
For you, that means a 20-inch engraving doesn't have to be split into tiles and babysat, and a full bed of coasters, tags, or award plates runs as one job.
The gantry and the galvo move and react at speeds up to 100× apart. If their timing drifts even slightly, the laser lands in the wrong spot. Over a long job those tiny errors add up, until the target falls outside the galvo's reach and lines break or the piece is ruined.
The X1 solves this with a custom four-axis control algorithm that plans the gantry's path around your design and keeps both systems in lockstep. It also cuts sharp direction changes by 61%, so the machine doesn't have to brake and accelerate at every corner. You get smoother motion, cleaner lines, and faster large-format jobs.
On a traditional gantry, the head follows every curve and slows down at each sharp turn. With Hybrid Motion™, the gantry glides along a smoothed path while the galvo traces the detail.
Reads your design and picks out the lines, curves, and key shapes.
Plans a smoother, more efficient route for the gantry.
Matches galvo speed to gantry movement on the fly.
Keeps both motion systems firing on the same clock.
Breaks complex paths into coordinated moves for stable, precise output.
In a one-hour batch engraving showdown, the X1's mix of galvo speed and a large bed delivered 380% higher productivity. For a shop, that's more orders finished per day on the same machine.

Galvo-level detail across a 615 × 320 mm bed. With the optional 5W UV, the spot gets as small as 0.017 × 0.017 mm, so fur, hair, and fine lines hold up even on oversized pieces.
Smart Seam Blending
When a design is larger than one galvo field, it gets engraved in sections. On most machines, the place where two sections meet shows up as a line. The X1 overlaps the edges of neighboring sections and blends them gradually, spreading small differences across a wider band so the join disappears.

Larger work areas on every galvo process mean oversized awards, bigger metal art, and more pieces per run.

600 × 300 mm (23.6″ × 11.8″) in the top 50 mm of the glass, with the optional 5W UV. That's up to 12× the inner-engraving volume of a typical machine, with room for large crystal awards or a full tray of keepsakes.

With the 60W MOPA, color engraving runs across the large galvo field, so you can make oversized color plaques and batches of colored tags in one job.

With the Dust Hood for Embossing, the X1 embosses across nearly 2× the area of a typical galvo, with room for coin runs, medallions, and relief plates.
Laser Swap™
Each laser source does its best work on different materials, and that used to mean different machines. The X1 starts with the 55W CO₂ and the 20W Diode Galvo. Then it adds a 5W UV, 60W MOPA, or 30W Fiber source through a port on the back of the machine, with one external source connected at a time.
Every galvo source runs through the same flying optical path and galvo head, so the add-on laser uses the same work area, cameras, calibration, and software as the rest of the machine. In xTool Studio, you can engrave with MOPA, Fiber, or UV and cut with CO₂ in a single setup.
Diode, UV, MOPA, and Fiber lasers each have their own wavelength and beam characteristics. Push them through the same optics and the spot size changes, focus drifts, and results get inconsistent. That's why most multi-laser setups use separate machines or separate lenses.
A series of mirrors carries each beam to the same high-precision galvo head, holding alignment through every reflection. One custom-engineered field lens focuses all three galvo wavelengths: 1064 nm (MOPA and Fiber), 450 nm (Diode), and 355 nm (UV).
Five laser options cover wood, acrylic, leather, metal, glass, crystal, and more on one platform.
Switch between glass surface engraving and inner engraving without changing the field lens, which saves time and the cost of extra optics.
Take on metal and crystal orders, enter new markets, and add higher-margin products without buying another machine.

The cutter. Wood, acrylic, leather, paper, and fabric, with clean edges up to 18 mm basswood and 20 mm acrylic.

The fast engraver. Photo-quality detail on wood, leather, dark acrylic, cardstock, and coated stainless.

Cold processing with a 0.017 mm spot. Glass and crystal inner engraving plus ultra-fine marks on almost anything.

Advanced metal work: color engraving, 3D embossing, and thin-metal cutting at higher speed.

Everyday metal marking: dark, permanent marks and deep 3D engraving on steel, aluminum, and brass.

20W Diode, 5W UV, 30W Fiber, and 60W MOPA require the CO₂ + Diode Galvo configuration. UV, Fiber, and MOPA are optional add-on sources.
55W CO₂ + 20W Diode Galvo
The CO₂ laser does the heavy cutting, and the diode galvo does the delicate engraving. On the X1 they share one bed and one coordinate system, so a project goes from raw sheet to finished piece without moving to another machine.
Set up a layered sign, a jewelry box, or a guitar pickguard once. The galvo engraves the artwork at high speed, then the CO₂ cuts the outline. Both lasers land where they should because the X1 calibrates them to the same coordinates.
That matters most on big custom work like restaurant signs and wall art, where re-fixturing a piece between machines is where alignment goes wrong. In one maker's test, a roughly 20-inch engraving took 38 minutes on the diode galvo, against an estimated 90 minutes on the CO₂ alone.
The 20W Diode Galvo combines speeds up to 6,000 mm/s with a finer spot than a CO₂ beam (0.16 × 0.14 mm at its tightest, versus 0.175 mm). Photo engravings keep the individual hairs, highlights, and texture that a wider CO₂ spot blurs.
The 55W CO₂ cuts 20 mm clear acrylic and 18 mm basswood in a single pass with clean, consistent edges, thick enough for signs, display stands, furniture parts, and layered décor.
With the 5W UV Source
Inner engraving has usually meant one crystal at a time. With the optional 5W UV source on the X1, the large bed holds a full tray of crystals, glass coasters, or award blanks in one run. Pair it with the RA3 rotary for etched stemware, decanters, and curved glass.
The UV laser also does surface engraving on glass, glass cutting, and ultra-fine marking on plastics, ceramics, and coated materials.
With the MOPA or Fiber Source
Add the 60W MOPA and the X1 does color engraving on stainless, batch embossing for coins and medallions, and thin-metal cutting. The 30W Fiber is the straightforward choice for deep, high-contrast black marking and 3D engraving on tools, tags, and EDC gear.
Not sure which one fits? Choose Fiber for names, logos, and serial numbers. Choose MOPA if color, cutting, or higher throughput is part of the plan.
Full-Area Multi-Laser Calibration
Each laser source comes with its own small alignment quirks, and a moving galvo head over a big bed adds more. Left alone, that shows up as ghosting, broken lines, or a cut path that doesn't quite match the engraving.
The X1 calibrates every laser point by point across the work area and maps them all onto one shared coordinate system, with alignment accuracy of up to 0.2 mm. It also corrects for machine movement, optical-path drift, and uneven material on its own, with no external calibration tools.
A built-in calibration system does the work. You don't need jigs or test boards.
Cameras catch positioning errors from machine movement and optical alignment.
CO₂, diode, and add-on sources all target the same processing position.
Height scans compensate for uneven or warped material in real time.
UniCast Frame
A large bed, a fast galvo, and a flying optical path all depend on a frame that doesn't flex. The X1 is built on three large aluminum frames die-cast on a 4,000-ton press, then CNC-machined and aligned so key optical components sit within 0.15° of true.
The rigid hardware works with smart vibration suppression. Motion algorithms smooth out sudden moves, a reinforced beam reduces shake, and precision rails keep travel on track. The result is sharper lines and cleaner edges at full speed. In a lab test on a vibration table, the X1 kept engraving smooth, aligned lines while a glass of wine beside it shook hard.
4,000-ton die casting gives the X1 a solid, one-piece foundation instead of a bolted-together chassis.
Vibration suppression keeps motion smooth at 6,000 mm/s, so speed doesn't cost you edge quality.
Accuracy holds through long, demanding production runs, from the first piece in a batch to the last.
Precision Dot Laser Ranging
Focus is everything on a laser, and real materials aren't perfectly flat. The X1's ranging camera works with a dot laser and uses laser triangulation to read surface height as it moves, building a height map of the full bed.
Older methods have two problems. Dark materials reflect too little light and bright ones too much, so readings get unreliable. And stop-and-measure scanning is slow: a single 600 mm line can take around 7 minutes, which makes checking a whole sheet for warp impractical.
A custom ranging module captures height changes at a frame rate 30× higher than the previous design.
Adjusts like your eye does, reading black acrylic and white paper equally well.
Uses quick calculations on simple surfaces and deeper analysis on complex ones.
No move-stop-measure cycle. Each reading is mapped to its exact spot on the material.
The ranging camera is one of three working together, and with the AutoLift Base they handle most of the setup for you, even on small, detailed pieces.
ACS™ · Automated Creation System
The X1's cameras, AutoLift Base, and AI-assisted software work together so setup takes seconds and batch production stays consistent. If you're new, it removes the guesswork. If you're experienced, it saves you hours of test cuts.
The camera finds every matching blank on the bed and places your design on each one. You can repeat the same design or use a different name per piece for personalized orders.
The camera scans your material, AI identifies it, and EasySet™ loads tested settings from a library of 1,700 materials and 110,000+ official parameters.
Run a parameter test grid, and one click analyzes it, picks the best result, and saves the setting for next time.

Design, preview, and run every laser from one program on Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, over Wi-Fi or USB. It imports SVG, DXF, JPG, PNG, BMP, and TIF.

Over 130 generators and 60,000+ projects. Build parametric boxes and structures from a description or photo, turn a photo into a 3D crystal model, or create commemorative coin files with no mold fees.
Safety
Long production runs need a machine you can trust. The X1 constantly monitors flame, temperature, water cooling, lid status, and its optical components, and the enclosed design is rated Class 1 laser safe.
A built-in flame camera and fire sensors watch every job. Add the Fire Safety Set 2 and suppression triggers automatically in under one second, with enough capacity for 4+ activations.

One flame-detection camera, seven NTC temperature sensors, and four machine-status sensors catch problems before they escalate.

An eye-protecting cover, lid-open safety stop, tilt detection, and an emergency stop make the X1 a fit for home studios, retail backrooms, and classrooms.

Pair the X1 with the SafetyPro™ AP2. Its 7-stage filtration, from the SuperCyclone pre-filter to HEPA, pulls fumes and odors so even acrylic cutting works indoors.
Accessories & Add-Ons
These options work with both X1 configurations. Add them now or as your orders grow.
Tumblers, rings, ornaments, stemware, and spheres. MagSwap™ switches between roller, chuck, sphere, and ring modes in seconds, and 3D preview shows placement before you burn. Up to 110 mm diameter.
Feed material up to 118″ long with two conveyor rails. AutoPassthrough captures and stitches images and detects feeding for large signs and furniture.
Seven-stage filtration with the SuperCyclone system clears smoke and odor so you can cut acrylic and wood indoors.
A dedicated rolling stand that one person can move. It keeps the X1 stable and lines up with the Conveyor Feeder for long-material work.

For the CO₂ + Diode Galvo configuration. Connect one source at a time on the back of the X1 to add glass or metal capabilities.
Connects to the X1's flame detection for automatic suppression in under one second, a smart add for long production runs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both have the same 55W CO₂ laser, cutting capacity, cameras, and work area. The CO₂ + Diode Galvo adds the 20W Diode Galvo Module, which brings engraving at up to 6,000 mm/s (versus 600 mm/s on CO₂) and is required for the UV, MOPA, and Fiber add-on sources. The Single CO₂ is a standalone cutting machine.
No. The Single CO₂ configuration doesn't support the add-on laser sources. If glass, crystal, or metal could be part of your plans, start with the CO₂ + Diode Galvo configuration.
The CO₂ laser can surface-engrave glass. For 3D inner engraving in crystal, add the optional 5W UV source. It's the only X1 laser that does inner engraving, with an area of up to 600 × 300 mm in the top 50 mm of the glass.
Choose the 30W Fiber for everyday metal work like names, logos, serial numbers, black marking, and 3D engraving. Choose the 60W MOPA for color engraving on stainless, deeper embossing, thin-metal cutting, and faster processing.
One external source (UV, MOPA, or Fiber) connects at a time through Laser Swap™. A single job can still combine the CO₂, the 20W Diode, and the connected source, for example engraving metal with MOPA and cutting the acrylic display with CO₂.
No. The X1 aligns every laser source to one shared coordinate system with up to 0.2 mm accuracy, so you can switch between CO₂, diode, and an add-on source in the same project without re-positioning. When you first install a new UV, MOPA, or Fiber source, run the calibration using the large sheets that come with it.
Yes. Pair the X1 with the RA3 rotary for tumblers, mugs, rings, and other round items up to 110 mm in diameter. The galvo's speed makes batches of tumbler orders go much faster.
The 55W CO₂ cuts up to 18 mm basswood and 20 mm acrylic in a single pass.
Yes. The enclosed X1 is Class 1 laser safe and monitors flame, temperature, cooling, and lid status. With the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder installed, it operates as a Class 4 device. During UV source optical alignment, Class 3B radiation is accessible. Those setups are meant for trained users, so follow the safety steps in the user manual.
The X1 measures 1,000 × 580 × 420 mm (39.4″ × 22.8″ × 16.5″), and the main unit weighs 60 kg (132 lb). The optional Mobile Work Stand lets one person roll it into place.
