xTool MetalFab Selected Air Compressor

Official xTool MetalFab Air Compressor | 2200W, 20L Tank, 145 PSI for CNC Metal Cutting

Feed your xTool MetalFab a steady shop air supply with the official xTool MetalFab Air Compressor. This compact 2,200W unit holds a 20 L (5.3 gal) tank, builds to 145 PSI (1.0 MPa) in about 45 seconds, and holds continuous working pressure from 87 to 114 PSI (0.6–0.79 MPa) so the cutter does not stall mid-pass.

Pair it with the xTool MetalFab Air Dryer and the SaveGas™ nozzle and compressed air can replace nitrogen or argon on everyday metal cuts: up to 4 mm stainless steel, 4 mm aluminum, and 3 mm brass, with a clean edge and no cylinder swaps. Set the target pressure to 1.0 MPa when you run the xTool compressor. The dryer is required for clean, dry air and is sold separately.

What It Does on a MetalFab

The compressor is the air source. The dryer is the filter. The SaveGas nozzle is what lets that air cut thicker sheet without a bottle of nitrogen.

  • Non-stop cuts. A 2,200W (3.0 HP) motor and 20 L tank recover from 0 to 145 PSI in about 45 seconds and hold pressure above 87 PSI during a cut.
  • Set-and-forget pressure. Range is 0.3–1.0 MPa. Recommended set point is 1.0 MPa. It stops at the set value and restarts about 0.2 MPa below it.
  • SaveGas cuts. With the dryer and SaveGas nozzle, xTool rates clean cuts at about 87 PSI on 4 mm stainless, 4 mm aluminum, and 3 mm brass.
  • Thinner sheet on a standard nozzle. Compressed air also covers stainless, aluminum, brass, carbon steel, and galvanized sheet in the thin range when the air is dry and oil-free.
  • Not a substitute for every gas. Thicker stainless still wants nitrogen, argon, or a compressor above 1.2 MPa. Thicker carbon steel still wants oxygen. Do not run wet, oily, or unknown air into the MetalFab.

Why the Dryer Has to Be in the Line

MetalFab assist air must be dry and oil-free. xTool’s gas guide calls for oil under 0.01 ppm and a dew point below 10°C, and the official dryer uses a 3-stage HyperPure filter (about 99% moisture, 99.999% oil and rust). Turn the dryer on first, then the compressor. A bare compressor without a dryer will put moisture and oil into the head and ruin the cut.

Compatibility

Designed for

  • xTool MetalFab laser welder / CNC cutter

Use with

  • xTool MetalFab Air Dryer (required for cutting)
  • xTool SaveGas™ nozzle for the 4 mm / 3 mm air-cut ratings
  • 10 mm gas hose into the MetalFab

This compressor is not a general shop pancake unit, and it is not rated as a stand-alone cutting gas source without the dryer.

Setup Tips

  1. Confirm a 200–240 V circuit. This compressor is not a 110 V unit.
  2. Connect compressor, then dryer, then the 10 mm hose to the MetalFab. A regulator in the line is optional.
  3. Power the air dryer first, then the compressor.
  4. Set pressure to 1.0 MPa and wait until the tank is up before you cut.
  5. Fit the SaveGas nozzle for the 4 mm stainless / 4 mm aluminum / 3 mm brass air cuts.
  6. Drain the tank after use. Do not touch the top of the compressor while it is hot.
  7. Replace silencer filters when airflow drops. Keep oil, water, and shop debris out of the intake.

FAQ

Is 145 PSI enough to cut metal on a MetalFab?
Yes for the rated air jobs. With the dryer and SaveGas nozzle, xTool specifies continuous pressure above 87 PSI for up to 4 mm stainless, 4 mm aluminum, and 3 mm brass. Set the compressor to 1.0 MPa so it can hold that pressure.

Do I still need the air dryer?
Yes. Cutting air has to be dry and oil-free. Run the official dryer in line. Do not feed raw compressor air into the MetalFab.

Can this replace nitrogen and argon?
On the rated thicknesses, yes, and that is the point: no cylinder refills for those everyday cuts. Thicker stainless and oxygen-cut carbon steel still need bottled gas.

What voltage does it need?
200–240 VAC, about 10 A, 2,200 W. Plan a 220 V circuit in a U.S. shop.

What is in the box?
Compressor, handle, power cable, 10 mm tube, silencers, spare silencer filters, quick start guide, and safety instructions. The air dryer is a separate unit.

How fast does it recover?
About 45 seconds from 0 to 145 PSI. It stops at the set pressure and restarts about 0.2 MPa below it, so long cuts do not wait on a full repressurize.
