Bring crystal-clear detail to glass, crystal, ceramic and plastics with the xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source Laser Expansion Kit. This 5W ultraviolet laser source mounts on the back of the xTool X1 through Laser Swap™ and adds a 355 nm UV wavelength. Instead of burning material away, its high-energy photons break chemical bonds directly. This cold processing almost entirely avoids charring, yellowing and melted edges on heat-sensitive materials.
Paired with the X1's Hybrid Motion™ flying galvo, the UV source does batch glass inner engraving across a 600 × 300 mm area, far beyond the small fixed field of a typical UV laser. That means you can engrave multiple crystal blocks, awards and keepsakes in a single run.
Important: The 5W UV Galvo Source provides only the laser source. It requires the xTool X1 20W Diode Galvo Module, which steers and focuses the UV beam through the X1's flying-galvo optical path. Make sure your X1 has the 20W Diode Galvo Module installed, or add it to your order.
Swing Design is xTool's largest dealer, and we carry the 5W UV Galvo Source, the 20W Diode Galvo Module and the full X1 lineup to help you build the perfect multi-laser setup.
Do I need the 20W Diode Galvo Module to use the 5W UV Galvo Source?
Yes. The UV source provides only the laser. It runs through the X1's flying-galvo optical path and the 20W Diode Galvo Module, which is required.
Can the X1 UV laser engrave inside glass and crystal?
Yes. It inner-engraves across a 600 × 300 mm area for materials up to 50 mm tall, and 60 × 300 mm for materials 50–100 mm tall. You can engrave multiple pieces in one run.
What materials work best with the 5W UV laser?
Glass, crystal, ceramic, transparent or light-colored acrylic, and plastics. These heat-sensitive materials benefit most from UV cold processing.
Can the 5W UV laser cut or engrave deeply?
No. Because of its power level, xTool says it isn't meant for cutting or deep engraving. Use the X1's 55W CO2 laser for cutting.
What field lens do I need for UV?
UV requires the purple-ring UV/Fiber/MOPA field lens, which comes in the box. Once installed, it can stay in place when you switch between galvo sources.
Can I engrave glassware on a rotary?
Yes. The UV source supports rotary and curved-surface engraving for items like wine glasses and tumblers.
Can I have more than one galvo source installed at once?
The X1 connects one external galvo source at a time, either UV, fiber or MOPA, through Laser Swap™.
Does the 5W UV Galvo Source work with other xTool machines?
No. It's designed only for the xTool X1.
