Not necessarily! The RA2 is a rotary tool that allows the cups and tumblers to rotate during engraving allowing for a full engrave around the circumfrence of the cup. It is possible to engrave without the rotary tool but you would be limited to engraving small sections at a time and manually turning in between each engraving. If you are using the RA2 Rotary tool, you will need to Riser in order to lift the engraving module high enough to have room for the cup to spin.
