Silhouette Software and Upgrades.  You can go directly from free Basic Edition, included with your Cameo, Portrait, or Curio, to Designer Edition, Designer Edition Plus, or Business.  These are the first 3 white cards.  If you already purchased an upgrade and would like to upgrade further, select the correct upgrade from the first 3 blue cards.  Why go to Business Edition?  The major reason is that it allows you to save out your designs as .jpg, .svg, pdf.  Without business you will only be able to access your designs within Silhouette Studio.

The Silhouette Studio Designer, Designer Plus and Business edition are compatible with the Cameo 5 and all current Silhouette machine models. For Cameo 3 or earlier, you will want to review the legacy versions for the software directly from Silhouette America's website..

Any Silhouette upgrade code can be used up to 3 separate computers for one account, and you can check this by logging into Silhouette America's website. On the My Account page, click on the License Keys tab on the left to check how many installs have been used. This only applies to older legacy versions of the software, as the current version gives you unlimited sign ins.

Yes, the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Upgrade - Instant Code makes a great gift. The code is sent to the email address used for ordering but can be transferred. It becomes tied to an account upon activation. Your friend would activate the code on their own Silhouette America account, making it easy to upgrade their Silhouette Studio experience.
