In order to sew vinyl and leather, it is best to change the needle for an 11/75 leather needle. It is also recommended to use a mid-weight cut stabilizer to assist in the movement. It is also recommended to use adhesive to adhere the stabilizer to the leather, but it can gum up the needle and may require cleaning. The process requires a lot of trial and error (adjusting the tension, thread type, needle size, etc) and can be slow & time consuming.
