The Brother SE2000 can sew and embroider on a large variety of fabrics, we would highly recommend caution when attempting to sew on thicker fabrics like tote bags. The process requires a lot of trial and error (adjusting the tension, thread type, needle size, etc) and we cannot guarantee any exact results. For canvas bags, make sure you are using a heavy-duty needle, typically size 90/14, 100/16, or even 110/18.
As for hats, the SE2000 can only embroider soft shell hats and patches, as the hat needs to be held within the flat hoops of the machine. For hard shell hats, you would want to look into the Brother PRS100 or the BAi Embroidery machine line, both of which have designated hat hoops.
