Question: Can you down load purchased designs on it?
Answer: The Brother PE545 (and other models of Brother Sewing & Embroidery machines) can read purchased embroidery files. They primarily use .PES files, via a USB drive or through the ArtSpira mobile app (available on the Google Play and Apple store). They can also read .PHC and .DST files.
They CANNOT read .EMB, .EXP, .HUS, .JEF, or .XXX files.
Question: Can you upload your own image into the system
Answer: You will first need to make sure your designs are converted into .PES embroidery files (the standard for Brother embroidery machines) that fit in the 4"x4" work area. Other file types that are compatible are .PHC, .PHX, and .DST files. These can be read via a USB storage device on the side of the touch screen or sent connected to the ArtSpira app. As a free option for embroidery software, we recommend Inkscape with the InkStitch extension.
