Can you do shirts with this printer? And if so wouldn't it need to print white, does it print white?

The Epson T5170 is an inket printer only and is not capable of printing for tshirt transfers as the ink is not compatible with fabric. For sublimation, I would recommend the Epson F570 or for DTG/DTF, the Epson F1070 or F2270 are great options.
